Operations Delivery Manager

Location: Crewe Diesel Depot

The UK’s newest Train Operating Company is looking to recruit an experienced Operations Delivery Manager to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Railway Operations Manager with current mainline driving competence.

Whilst not required to currently hold Steam Locomotive competence, a passion for heritage rail vehicles and the willingness to develop into becoming a Steam Locomotive mainline driver is essential. Previous experience of heritage equipment would be advantageous.

Role Summary

  • Responsible officer for drivers when on duty.
  • Undertake selection & screening.
  • Manage driver, fireman and guard basic competence and route knowledge.
  • Carry out on call duties as required and create/manage all necessary safety critical systems for the operational function.
  • Must be a qualified Train Driver and retain competence thereof.
  • Proven team player with significant operational and management experience.

Key Skills

  • Qualified Train Driver with a minimum of 10 years experience in the industry as both driver and Operations Manager.
  • Proven experience of railway control and operations methodology
  • Proven record of Operations Management

This is a full-time management role and requires flexible working hours and days to suit the needs of the organisation. Weekend working will be required.

Competitive salary, dependent on experience.

Group Safety, Quality, Environment and Compliance Manager

Location: Crewe Diesel Depot

The UK’s newest Train Operating Company is looking to recruit an experienced Safety, Quality, Environment and Compliance Manager to join our team.

Our ideal candidate, a railway professional, with demonstrable experience in Safety, QA, Environmental and Compliance management will be responsible for a small group of companies that manage operational, technical and commercial activities in the delivery of charter trains. Experience of heritage railway vehicle engineering and charter train delivery will be a significant advantage to applicants. NEBOSH certification is an essential requirement.

Role Summary

To lead on and deliver a consistent approach to all aspects of Safety, Quality, Environmental and Compliance activities for Locomotive Services (TOC) Limited, Locomotive Services Limited and the London and North-Western Railway Heritage Company Limited.

Ensure that the Train Operating Company remains compliant to industry legislation, and operates in accordance with its established Safety Certificate, Operational Licence, Safety and Quality Management Systems.

Oversee the interaction between the Train Operating Company and other parts of the group to ensure the importation of risk to network operations is minimised, particularly the interactions with the Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) and vehicle owners.

Key Skills

  • Railway professional with at least 10 years’ experience of safety critical railway operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of Safety, QA, Environmental and Compliance protocols relating to railway operations, particularly heritage equipment and charter train delivery.
  • As a minimum NEBOSH qualified. Capable of conducting internal and external audits, training and assessment and supplier evaluation.

This is a full-time management role and requires flexible working hours and days to suit the needs of the organisation. Weekend working will be required.

LNWR Heritage Co. Ltd.

We currently have opportunities for two new team members at LNWR Heritage in Crewe.

CNC Programmer/Operator

We are looking to recruit a CNC Programmer/Operator to join our Machine Shop at our new facility in Crewe. Prior experience in the railway industry will be an advantage.

Full time. Monday to Friday. 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • To produce components required for the overhaul of locomotives and carriages to a high standard and within deadlines.
  • Machining parts to a high standard and within set tolerances.
  • Ensure all work carried out complies with the company's Safety Management System document and applicable statutory legislation regarding the workplace.
  • Storage of manufactured parts with relevant certification
  • Undertake any other task that may reasonably be required within the machine shop.

Key Skills

  • Adept at proframming and the use of CNC lathes.
  • Loading and producing components on a CNC lathe.
  • Competent in the use of conventional machine centres and hand tools.

Fitter/Machinist

We are looking to recruit a Fitter/Machinist to join our Steam Locomotive Mechanical Department at our new facility in Crewe. Prior experience in the railway industry will be an advantage.

Full time. Monday to Friday. 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overhaul of locomotives to a high standard and to deadlines.
  • Machining parts to a high standard and within set tolerances.
  • Ensure all work carried out complies with the company's Safety Management System document and applicable statutory legislation regarding the workplace.
  • Undertake any other task that may reasonably fall within the remit of a Fitter/Machinist.

Key Skills

  • Competent in the use of machine centres and hand tools.
  • Welding.
  • Gas cutting.
  • Adept at machining components and fitting them to locomotives.

Salary dependent on experience.
